Reopening of ANESFHS Premises:

Covid-19 Safety Guidelines and Protocols

 

Effective from Monday 3rd August 2020, the ANESFHS Research Centre at 158–160 King Street will reopen by appointment only, with the following procedures in place.

  • Visits will be by appointment only, up to 2½ hours during the periods 10:15am to 12:45pm and 1:15pm to 3:45pm.  If an afternoon session is not fully booked, then a morning appointee may (subject to agreement) be allowed to stay on.  To book a seat, please telephone the Centre: 01224 646323.
  • For overseas and other distant members, we also hope to be able to offer a researchFor overseas and other distant members, we also hope to be able to offer a research consultation with a volunteer, to be held over a computer video link (Zoom, Google Meet etc.). Preparation before you visit our Centre:

  • When you make your appointment, please try to have a clear idea of what you would like to find.  The library catalogue is available in our Centre, but we cannot permit browsing of the library collection or of the bookshop at this time.
  • Purchases may still be made.  Please see “Publications for Sale” on our website.
  • Any Record of Ancestors charts can be emailed to members on request, so there will be no need to view them in the library.  The index (to July 2012) is online.

On your arrival at our Centre:

  • Please do not enter the premises if you feel unwell and/or show any symptoms of Covid-19, including cough, fever, new rash, or difficulty in breathing.
  • Enter by the usual door at 158 King Street.
  • Each Centre user must bring and wear a face-covering.  If you do arrive without one, we have a limited number of disposable masks available for purchase.
  • Please use the hand-sanitiser provided, observe social distancing, and follow signs and advice.
  • The front-desk volunteer will sign you in.  Please give details to allow for contact-tracing if that need should arise later.

Protocols within our Centre:

  • No eating or drinking is allowed on the premises until further notice.  The only exception is a personal water bottle.  Please take care when using this, and store it sealed in your own bag or coat at all times, keeping it well away from computer equipment and other people.
  • Centre staff will fetch microfilms etc. and any library items a visitor would like to see.
  • All payments of £5+ will be by contactless card.  Small cash amounts can be placed in a money box, recorded as a donation and accessed infrequently after an effective quarantine period.
  • When you are ready to leave, please inform the front-desk volunteer, who will sign you out.
